Ciao, Blogga: #29 ...Two Week Countdown!

Not only is today Tyler and I's 6 month anniversary, but today is also the TWO WEEK mark until I arrive back in Italia! As you all well know from the pathetic status updates, depressing tweets, and lack of blog posts - I am more than ready to be back at home with my husband, dog, oversized bed and bare walls ready to be painted. Being home for over a month is frankly too long of stay. It is loving college life and coming home for winter break TIMES being an adult with a family in Italy - it sucks, bottom line. Any time I came home for breaks 2 weeks was my mark. I could see everyone I wanted to see in that amount of time, eat as much home cooked food as I needed, spend quality time with my family - and I was done. Like I've said before, at 25 you can only spend so many nights on your mom's couch. Furthermore, they also all have their lives and it's awful feeling like an intruder to your own family. With the exception of Boo Boo, Cath, and my military brothers, I've really done/seen all I've needed to at this point. I am well aware when I get back days will not pass and I will miss my little sisters, family, and best friends - but like Carrie from Sex and the City says, they're only a plane ride away. I know I can speak for Tyler when I say our home is welcome to any and all of our family and friends. We can't wait to host and show our loved ones around. But I assure you, I have never fully realized the true blessing of being able to 'runaway with the one you love' until after spending a month plus back in the states. It's amazing how quickly my life went from 1:1s and boxed wine to walking the dog and Moscato. Currently, my mom, stepdad, and sister Melinda are at Dewey Beach - the same beach Melinda has been going to since she was 3. Same shopping, same restaurants... and until this year, the same hotel. Please do not misunderstand me - I LOVE MY FAMILY! I am so grateful for them and all they have done for me... and continue to! We are just very, very different people. I have been aware of how much college has changed me for years (hence getting involved with Higher Ed!), but never so much as when I am back here. One thing has changed however, Melinda actually gets (somewhat) into the water with me. ;) Mom still lets it hit her ankles. Speaking of different cultures (ha), my first grad class started last week. It's online and should be done by the beginning of August. It's Multicultural Counseling - and I love it.
