Portsmouth, Rye Businesses Win Top Arts Awards

This year’s winners were selected from a pool of 31 nominees statewide. Fin Brand Positioning was credited with creating the design and branding for the Portsmouth Museum of Art.  Marty Lapham and the Fin Brand team created a visual identity for the museum, as well as unique branding for their 2010 SugiPOP! exhibition, which received press and recognition from around the globe.  Fin Brand works with clients across the country, but has been a long-time supporter of many art and other non-profit organizations, lending its marketing and design expertise generously.

Margaritas Mexican Restaurant was lauded for their planning support, as well as for providing of all the food and décor for the Portsmouth Music and Arts Center’s annual “Spring Fever for the Arts” annual fund raiser.  David Pelletier of Margaritas accepted their award.  Margaritas is one of the Seacoast’s great success stories and has put a great deal of time and money into supporting organizations in the community it calls home.

Each winner received a framed painting by New Hampshire artist Melissa Miller of Concord. The Sharon Arts Center provided the table centerpieces. The ArtsBags Cultural Trivia Show highlighted the evening’s sponsors and contained cultural goodies of tickets, tee shirts, posters and books contributed by New Hampshire’s many cultural organizations. The grand prize was donated by Wentworth-by-the-Sea.

Corporate Sponsors were Bank of America, Citizens Bank, Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Hypertherm, Lincoln Financial Group, Northeast Delta Dental, People’s United Bank, Public Service of NH, RiverStone Resources LLC, Winthrop Charitable Gift Fund. TD Charitable Foundation was the underwriter.

What is a good credit union or community bank to join in the ...

The problem you will have with credit unions is locations. Credit Union of Texas for example only has about 10 branches. You can do basic transactions like deposits at other credit unions in their shared branch network. You may have a delay on using those deposits unless they are in cash. I had a check deposited at CU of Texas through a shared branch and it was nearly three weeks before the money was available even though the check had cleared the issuing bank in just a day or two. I didn’t need the money and I don’t know if they would have released the hold sooner if I’d called them. But it is certainly a concern I would raise about using them as my main bank. I have found them friendly and very competitive on loan rates.
