African adventure for Woodley globetrotter

A daredevil is taking part in the challenge of a lifetime by cycling 15,000 miles from Scotland to South Africa – and hoping to become the first person to paddle the Congo in a canoe.

Rob McIntyre, 32, set off from John O’Groats last September and has so far travelled more than 8,000 miles of his journey to Cape Town.

Mr McIntyre has cycled across three continents, including the length of the River Danube and through the Sahara Desert. He is currently in south west Uganda.

Upon reaching the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mr McIntyre will swap his pedals for paddles when he tries to become the first person to travel the length of the Congo river in a dugout canoe.

The Congo excursion is about 1,100 miles long and will take Mr McIntyre, from Woodley, five weeks to complete.

Eventually he will reach Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The trip, which is expected to take more than a year to complete, is being done in aid of Tusk Trust – a charity working to stop the decline in Africa’s natural heritage, protect its wildlife and alleviate poverty.

Mr McIntyre said he was inspired by a man called Al Humphries, who spent four years cycling more than 25,000 miles around the world.

He added: “Similarly, the trip that Ewan McGregor completed in his TV series The Long Way Down was fairly instrumental.

“Obviously, the charity plays a big part. Through the funds I raise and supporting Tusk Trust, I hope to make a positive change in Africa in the various projects that span the continent.”

Mr McIntyre is keeping his friends and family up to date with a blog where he posts pictures, diary entries and plots his journey on an online map.

On his blog, Mr McIntyre said: “The journey is an adventure, not a time trial, to experience the smells, sights, people and wildlife as they gradually pass by. Tusk Trust, who focus specifically on Africa, delivers a particularly important message of sustainability and co-operation in all areas of life from the communities to the wildlife and environments, which bind us all together.

“This approach is one which matches my outlook and is one I wholeheartedly support and hope I can promote.”

I disagree. This thread is not about some immigration lawyer. This thread is about visa numbers wasted due to USCIS inefficiency. That's what the title of the thread says. Why do I or anybody else care about some immigration lawyer? Why is he/she relevant if its specifically proven with facts that there is no wastage of visa number. You continue to advertise the name of the immigration lawyer. The reason I say this is because in my experience immigration lawyers comment on these issues as if they have direct access to USCIS Director or god. Even after disproving the visa wastage theory with facts you still continue to over analyze immigration body shop instead of discussing the issue. I am just wondering, why would you that? Are you that immigration lawyer or employee of his law firm? Just curious. THIS IS THE BEST INVESTMENT OF YOUR LIFE, PUT 20$ / MONTH AND SEE IF IT MAKES YOUR LIFE BETTER !! GUYS JUST THINK OF THE LIFE U MAY GET ONCE YOU GET GC.... ALL SAID , DO YOU THINK I AM A FOOL CONTRBUTING SO MUCH MONEY FOR FUN.... ALL THOSE WHO THINK THAT IF ANY FRAUD EXIST , LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING , BY THE END OF THE YEAR I WOULD HAVE CONTRIBUTED AROUND $2700 TO IV AND I SWEAR TO GOD IF I FIND THAT IV IS NOT A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION , I WILL SUE IV..... SO GET UP GUYS AND THINK THINK THINK.... THIS IS THE LAST YEAR FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN OR MY PREDICTION IS THAT IV WON'T EXISTS .... SO JUST DO IT Everyone is again talking about ifs and buts. Guys why do not you put your hard work on what is more important than what is never ever going to happen. People with a GC, if this Bill passes, they are not going to renew your GC also. How's about that? People with a US citizenship, with previous GC status, they will not renew the USA passport, if this Bill passes. How's about that? You are an illiterate so called best and the brightest who are demanding greencrd but do not even deserve to be in this country. This country does not need such people. Slums of India is best for you and you will enjoy to live in Mayavatiland and Lalooland. It is people like you who bring bad repute to all Indians. Read The real news about India (http://realindianews.wordpress.com/) My company filed EAD for me and my wife along with 485 recently. I am on L1 and My wife is on L2. Is is possible to file one more EAD on L2 status. Looks like, we can get EAD on L2 faster than EAD with 485. My company attorney is suggesting me not to file one more EAD because one with 485 is pending with USCIS.
