Primary Status: Bachmann, Paul plan return NH visits next week

JUNE 21 UPDATE: BACHMANN, PAUL TO RETURN. Plans are underway for Tea Party leaders and presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul to return to New Hampshire for the first time since the first-in-the-nation primary debate eight days ago.

The Primary Status has learned that Bachmann plans to return next Tuesday, June 28, for a “meet-and-greet' at the home of Tom and Tracy Hoenig in Raymond. The campaign said those who want to attend should RSVP at nhforbachmann2012@gmail.com and include name, address, e-mail and phone, or call (603) 498-1937.

She also plans private meetings that day.

Paul is scheduled to be in the state next Thursday and Friday, June 30 and July 1, with his trip focused on stops in Coos and Carroll counties. Specifics have not yet been announced.

Meanwhile, Bachmann received a positive review this week from Manchester attorney and conservative GOP activist Ovide Lamontagne.

In an recent interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network's chief political correspondent, David Brody, Lamontagne said, “I've had a chance to meet Michele Bachmann. She is bright. She's funny. She's got charisma.

“She's a conservative movement activist and leader,” Lamontagne said. “She's been at the grassroots when she wasn't an office holder so she knows how to connect with people. I think she actually could catch fire here in New Hampshire.”

Lamontagne also said, “It's a wide open race” for the GOP presidential nomination.

June 20 UPDATE: BERGERON BACKS MITT. Former Cheshire County Republican Chairman Juliana Bergeron today told the Primary Status that she is endorsing Mitt Romney for President.

Bergeron was a candidate to succeed former Gov. John H. Sununu as state Republican chairman earlier this year, but lost to Jack Kimball. She has remained active and continues to serve on the state party's executive committee, now as the designee of current county chairman Bill Hutwelker.

She is viewed as an influential supporter for Romney in the southwestern part of the state.

“I think we need somebody who is going to key in on the economy and jobs and business issues,” Bergeron said.

The San Diego Food Truck Festival will have over 35 food trucks from LA, OC, and San Diego converging on Liberty Station. Trucks will cover everything from Indian to Italian, and ice cream sandwiches to banh mi sandwiches. Admission is $10 (not including food) and presale ticket holders will be admitted for the first two hours (noon-2pm) with door sales admitted after.

I just want to mention the security at Fashion Valley Mall are not very happy when people park at Fashion Valley and walk over to Town & Country Resort. In the recent past signs are posted discouraging the practice so just letting people know to be careful and park at your own risk when it comes to Fashion Valley. Have a great weekend foodies!!!
