It List: Dallas Area Music Offerings for July 12
Violent squid / Slackbeat / Cuckoo Byrds / Shoulder Voices (rubber gloves rehearsal studios): It is with some sadness that I write this up because it is the last appearance of cuckoo Byrds - as an act local anyway . Founding members, David Townsend and Lisa McCullough, also ran the Time Bandits vintage shop since November 2007, but unfortunately had to close the company recently.The couple is headed to the West Coast of origin where they moved, and I remember fondly of having a conversation with Townsend in the shop in California on acts extremely obscure fanzines. It was the kind of conversation you hope to have every time shopping for used records. Byrds cuckoo was one of the acts of the region more attractive for some time now, especially after the addition of singer Sashenka Lopez to the mix already strong complex rhythms, synthesizers coarse, and bass sounds that prog Duo product. Having access to so many records and possessing such fine taste also had its advantages. The couple was a fantastic DJ duo in addition to their other talents. They have apparently recorded something on their way out of town, so look forward to that. Their contribution will be greatly missed.
