No sweet dreams for bullies

New research doesn't tell how to keep children from being bullies, but it just might ease the sting for their victims. A study by the University of Michigan shows that while mild-mannered victims are asleep, dreaming of better days, ill-tempered bullies are not in the arms of Morpheus.

There is a good chance that they are snoring, sleeping only fitfully and will wake up in the morning grumpy and tired. The study doesn't suggest, however, that their sleep-related woes are visited upon them because they taunt, push, punch, mock and otherwise commit hazing-type infractions on their classmates. In short, it doesn't point the finger at a guilty conscience.

Describing bullies as victims would be tortured reasoning. But it's possible that bullying behavior is exacerbated by sleep-related problems.

If so, the research could be viewed as a clarion call for an early bedtime and a warm glass of milk. Bullies, after all, are at risk for psychiatric problems, delinquency, substance abuse, antisocial behavior, violence and criminal activity. Their victims are at risk for damaged self-image, depression and decreased quality of life.

Sleep, which can knit the raveled sleeve of care, is worth prescribing for bullies and victims alike.

On the motivation Q, sitting at home itself is a motivation. What else do you need to get out there and work for a provision that will help your family and many others to come. you guys can work on the issue and get a provision that wil help your family and other families in the future from the inability to work or else you can continue bitching and moaning about how it is a loss of self esteem, which IMO is lack of self esteem. Choice is yours However if you feel you want to be in the thick of things and know everything that is going on, then I guess joining your state chapter and being an active member can help you get some additional info. I believe volunteering your time is a lot more useful for the community than only money and if you can do that, all the power to you. I for one try and make my contributions to help those guys who are taking the pains to do all the work which benefits all of us Thanks Almond... your post summarizes exactly how ppl in my position feel. one of my frds did MBA from top 20 B-school but could not change to a new job in management career becoz his I-140 approved but did not file for I-485 yet and worse yet he crossed 6 year H1b. now he is also living on 3 year h-1b extensions with approved I-140. when he was venting his frustration like me, one a$$hole (GC holder) suggested he move back to his home country. funny thing was this a$$hole got her GC becoz she married some bakra who already applied for GC.
